A prediction that I have for what may happen next is that Bruno will go to the place where he saw all the people with the striped pajamas on the other side of the fence to find someone to talk to or play with since he’s bored and has no one nor nothing to entertain him. I think that Gretel or his mother will catch him and get him in trouble for talking to the people on the other side of the fence since they’re Jews and Herr Liszt taught him and his sister Gretel that Jews are bad.
I was surprised that Bruno is nice to Maria, the maid, and he also said that she’s part of the family even though the rest of his family treats her like a regular maid. He realized that no one cares about her feelings or what she has to say so he started a conversation with her when she was putting his clothes away.
I really like the idea that the story is in the eyes of the son of a Nazi soldier. Something I learned from my reading was that Bruno didn’t know what his father worked as, all he knew is that it’s a very important job.
I think the relationship between Bruno and Gretel is interesting because when Bruno told Gretel to look out the window to see the kids, she was kind of scared and that made me think that she didn’t trust him even though it’s her own brother.
